The Firstborn Project

Our project is about working with volunteers, school children and elders to explore the story of Bristol Bus Boycott and collect stories about immigration, race relations and civil rights.

We are interested in looking behind the collective memory of an event by talking to people who were actually there at the time; and to unpick the many truths and contradictions.

As well as conducting new interviews, an important part of the project has been researching and identifying archive material from this period in the history of Bristol. See what additional work Firstborn do, and how to get involved at future projects by clicking the image oppostite.
